Birder
A downloadable game
Birder - A visual narrative experience
Two of our favorite activities are looking at cute animals and being on Tinder. Why not combine the two? Swipe yourself through a series of eccentric birds with varying degree of weirdness and find the bird of your dreams or at least have another funny story to tell your friends who are in a relationship.
Duality - The overarching theme
As part of a project created during the Global Game Jam 2022, the overarching theme of Birder is duality. While swiping left or right is a form of duality on its own, you can play using she/her or he/him pronouns and be presented with different reactions from your matches.
A game created in Microsoft PowerPoint
For Birder, no regular game engine was utilized. Instead, the whole game is put together in Microsoft PowerPoint. That means as long as you can open a PowerPoint file, you can play it!
Problem fixing
If you can't see your mouse then you are either in a cut-scene animation or you need to aggressively move your mouse to make it visible. The game has some unique quirks due to it being made in PowerPoint so please be patient with it and I hope you can make it work.
About me
I am a psychology student and have no formal education in game design. All the art and the animations were done by me and then implemented in PowerPoint. I hope you will enjoy it!
